Frequently asked questions

What is Decoder?
An app that sends documents for signature and reads them first. Each person who signs sees what the document says, in plain words, before the signature field. On its own, Decoder also reads bills, contracts, letters and notices you give it.
Does the person signing see the read?
Yes. It sits on the signing page, above the signature field, and each point quotes the line it came from.
Does Decoder give legal or financial advice?
No. It explains what a document says. For advice about your own situation, talk to a qualified professional.
What happens to my documents?
The text is sent to our processing provider to produce the result and is not stored. We keep the result, which includes short quotes from the document. Deleting your account deletes every result. A document you send for signature is different: it is stored so your recipients can sign it, and it is removed when you delete the request or 90 days after it is completed.
Does the person signing need the app?
No. They open a link in any browser, on a phone or a computer. There is nothing to install and no account to make.
How is Decoder sold?
Decoder is a paid app, sold through the App Store and Google Play. The price is shown in the store before you buy. Payments and refunds are handled by the store, under its own terms.
Does the person signing need Decoder?
No. They open a link in any browser. Nothing to install, no account.
Can I sign something myself?
Yes. Add yourself as a recipient and sign your fields in the app, or open your link like anyone else.
What is in the record?
The document, the recipients, and every event with its time: sent, viewed, consent, signed, declined, voided, completed, expired.
How long is a signed document kept?
Ninety days after it is completed. Download the finished copy to keep it longer.
Is a SignMe signature recognised where I am?
The record keeps who signed, their consent, the time of each step and a fingerprint of the file. How electronic signatures are treated in each country is set out on the compliance page.
Is there a limit?
A document can run to 60 pages, and there is a daily cap on how many requests you can send.
Who can see my data?
Your data is not sold and is not shared with advertisers. We share information only with the service providers that operate the app, such as our processing, storage, hosting, sign-in, payment, and notification delivery providers. These are listed in our Privacy Policy.
How accurate is it?
Decoder uses automated systems, and its output may be incomplete or incorrect. Treat it as a starting point for understanding a document, not a final answer, and check anything that matters against the original document.
How do I delete my account and data?
Open Settings in the app and choose Delete account. This removes your account, your decodes, your SignMe requests and the device tokens used for notifications. Decoder keeps only anonymous service statistics, such as model usage and cost figures, with nothing about you or your documents attached.
Which sign-in methods are supported?
You can sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address and password.
